January Meeting January 11, 2020 TDA
The 2019 vintage racing season kicks off with three days at Pacific Raceways. Friday is a racers-only tune-up and novice day; Saturday and Sunday will see two full days of racing.
Saturday morning will see practice and qualifying sessions. Racing starts before noon and continues all day on Sunday.
This is the first time since last September the racers have been on the track so look for lots of action throughout the day, from the smallest formula cars to ground pounding Can-Am cars.
This year, it will be held down in the Portland area, which NW-Z is working on. They have a new facility that we may go to. So check back often to get all of the details. This is our opportunity to go down south, have some competitive and fun go kart racing, and hopefully we can bring the coveted Go-Kart Challenge trophy back home!!
Come and join us for a drive along the Columbia River Gorge!
(ZCCW / NWZ Club members and invited guests only!)
We will be leaving the Star Lake Park and Ride in Federal Way promptly at 7am. Make sure that you are ready to roll then, with a full tank of gas and an empty bladder! Bring walkie talkies set to Channel 1, subchannel 1.

This year, on the way to the hotel, we’ll take a side trip to the Bonneville Dam and skip getting caught up in the tourist traps along the Falls roads on Highway 30. We’ll hang out at the Dam for restroom breaks and leg stretches. We’ll plan to get back on I-84 East after about an hour’s break.
We’ll then drive to the town of Mosier (Exit 69) and take Old Hwy 30 to the viewpoint at Rowena Crest for a photo op, if the parking spaces are available. In the past there have been many tourists parked there to prevent us from lining up our cars…We’ll see how that goes on Saturday, we may just drive through and continue to the Hotel if that’s the case.
Arriving at Cousin’s Country Inn, get checked in and get ready for a group dinner in the banquet room at 6:30pm.
Sunday Morning! Bring lots of water, sunscreen, walkie talkies, sunglasses, and food.
We‘ll leave the Hotel at 9am to meet up with other members of both Z Clubs. Be ready to depart the Museum grounds at approx. 10:30am to drive over to the Stonehenge Memorial for photo ops. We’ll hang at Stonehenge for an hour or so for photos, and then drive just down the road to The Loop Road entrance. Everyone drives to the top of The Loops Road for a quick meeting on road safety, before we start the driving on the hill.
Our club is getting an extraordinary deal on the Loop Road rental, so it’s IMPORTANT to make sure that we leave the Loops Road site cleaner than is was when we arrived. We need to pack out ALL of our trash for the day, and grab / pick up anything else that previous groups may have left. The Museum staff trusts us and appreciates how we take care of their area. They kindly welcome us back to drive every year. ;0)
We’ll stay at The Loops Road until everyone decides that they’ve had enough! That’s usually around 3:30 or so. This would conclude our Maryhill weekend.
Hey All, Sorry for the late post on this meeting as some of you may have noticed many of us were busy getting ready for our annual Mary Hill Loops weekend. If you werent’ there with us you missed out.
For this months Meeting we are heading North again to make up to the North Meeting that fell short due to the snow. We have the “private” back room. There are happy hour specials. hoping to see some of you make it out on short notice.
CALLING ALL Z’S!!!!! This year they will be celebrating 50 years of the Datsun/Nissan Z Car’s. There will be a car show in Downtown Spokane, Car Corral, & Parade Laps on the track.
The Spokane Festival of Speed again gives us a three-day fix of vintage racing activities. Action starts Friday, June 7th with the Festival Test-N- Tune, followed by the Race Car Tour, a public-road run from the track to downtown Spokane’s beautiful Riverfront Park. There the Festival will host the very popular Bruce Hunt Vintage in the Park vintage racecar show and driver reception.
Saturday and Sunday will have full racing schedules, with some of the races televised for later viewing on network TV. The Festival Race Party will be Saturday evening at the track. The SFOS is again sponsored by Porsche of Spokane in support of the Parkinson’s Resource Center.
The club has secured a parking area for this Car Show. this is one of the largest vintage import shows in the world. The club will be BBQing up some lunch for members that join us for the show. this is for 1988 and older imports. if your car is newer you can park in the public lot and still come hang out with the club.
June Meeting at Katie Downs. Still working out Details on this one but would love to have people bring their Z’s out for a Cruise through the park after and maybe a quick stop at Sonic for a dessert.
